Right. We are sending fuckers to a desert island for the rest of their lives. But don’t worry we are loading their iPods up with 5 of their favourite albums of all time, and 2 side tracks too, cos who doesn’t love a bit on the side? (Jokes, be faithful. As fuck.)
First up is our very own Jay. Let’s see what he’s taking.
MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY. KANYE WEST. 2010.
Quite possibly the greatest album from start to finish I have ever heard. If you make me narrow it down to one, this is probably the one I would take. Kanye West delivers, but I don’t think I could live the rest of my life – albeit alone on a desert island – without hearing Nicki Minaj’ verse on Monster.
8701. USHER. 2001.
Before Confessions, there was 8701. Usher was roughly 22 when he dropped 8701. A masterpiece with some of his biggest tracks. Sorry, but you can keep Confessions.
LEGACY. BOYZ II MEN. 2001.
Ok, ok. So it’s a greatest hits album – but I’m taking it on a technicality. This was the first Boyz II Men album I ever heard, and track after track it’s brilliant. Plus, who knows, I might meet a stranded woman on this island!
MEATLOAF. BAT OUT OF HELL. 1977.
Alright so it came out before I was born, but what else could I possibly play on a hot summers night?
THE BLUEPRINT. JAY Z. 2001.
This was a straight shoot out between this, The Black Album and Watch The Throne. Again, the jewel in the crown of quite possibly the greatest rapper of all time.
Kanye West – The Glory – Graduation. 2007. Eminem – Brain Damage – The Slim Shady LP. 1999.
